In our last annual general meeting, the house felt the need of forming small groups on focused areas. The new governing body in its first meeting on 16th January 2007 discussed over the matter and decided to form four sub-committees of five members each. Below is the list of those committees along with the names of honourable members who are given the responsibility to work on those issues :

These committees will discuss among them and finalise their plan of action near future.

Nostalgia ! everywhere.
Thats how it started. I’m waiting for a coverage of the event by an established ‘Kalamchi’ amongst us. I don’t think I’m fit for the job of depicting Pradipda, Sri Pradip Ghosh, noted recitor, in action with his nostalgia ! There are people who can do justice to Pradipdas’ recollections with their pen. Let them wake up and post something.
In the mean time lets share some photographs of the event. I just managed to get those from different people who were flashing their cameras.

Finally we are starting our festival of nostalgia, Reunion 2006, today the 6th August 2006, at “Yamuna Bhawan” 105. B. T. Road, Bon Hooghly, Kolkata. The celebration will start with registration at 4.00 P.M. sharp.

The tentative program is :

• Welcome address by the President, Dr. Surajit Ghosh– 5.15 P.M.
• Felicitation to Honourable Minister in Charge, Dept of Law & Justice, Govt. of West Bengal, Sri Rabilal Moitra, our alumnus and his recollection of our past – 5.30 P.M.
• Felicitation to Sri Pradip Ghosh, our alumnus and noted reciter, and his recollections – 5.45 P.M.
• Distribution of four memorial awards by the alumni association to the eligible students of our Alma Mater. This year the list of Award winner is –
  1. Dinesh Majumdar memorial Award, given to a student passing Madhyamic Pariksha for overall best performance in the school, for the year 2006 goes to Sri Jishnu Mukherjee.
  2. Nikhil Ranjan Bose memorial Award, given to a student passing Higher Secondary Examination for obtaining highest marks in English (2nd language) in the school, for the year 2006 goes to Sri Souvik Dey.
  3. Subirendra Mukhopadhyay memorial Award, given to a student passing Higher Secondary Examination for obtaining highest marks in Bengali (1st language) in the school, for the year 2006 goes to Sri Ramit Saha.
  4. Amiya Ranjan Samanta memorial Award, given to a student passing Higher Secondary Examination for obtaining highest marks in Physics in the school, for the year 2006 goes to Sri Saikat Dutta.

Friends,
The first reunion of the Baranagar Narendranath Alumni Association will be held on 6th August 2006 3.30 P.M. onwards at “Yamuna Bhawan” , Boon Hooghly (Near BKC College). The event will be marked with nostalgic sharing, cultural program and dinner. You are cordially invited to attend the program with your spouse.

Following our principle of non wastage of fund and better organising the program, we have decided to make the participation contributory. A participation fee of Rs 100/- per unit (member and his spouse) have been fixed. You are requested to contact Binoy Chakrobarti or Dibakar Paul for collection of invitation cards against participation fee. The Governing body request your co-operation to make the program a great success. You are requested to inform fellow batchmates who have not yet become our member.

The reunion will also decide on holding of the Annual General Meeting. We are planning to upload a member directory here in our site. Updation of membership status will help us in doing so. Our website is interactive. Please give your feedback here in the site itself just below this.

The association will publish a souvenir “Swaranika” during this occassion. You can send short writings for publication in it. The work should reach me by 5th July 2006 at contact@bnnvalumni.org. We need advertisements. The contract form for accepting advertisement can be downloaded from here. Please use your contacts to get some advertisement for Swaranika.

The association will host this years’ Bijoya Sammilani on 30th Octobor, Sunday. The venue has been set up at Sananda(behind Sinthi More Bata). Sananda is the place where we had our first meeting during our pre registration days. The nostalgia is strong. Let us join together to celebrate. The program is hundred percent unstructutered excepting one part, the dinner. We are planning to have a contributory dinner on that day. Pradeep Neogi, a 1985 batch passout, is responsible for organising the party. Please confirm your attendance by giving him a message in his mobile : 9331026321 stating your name and contact number. We shall start at 5.0 P.M sharp.

I have already told you that we will be unstructured on that day. So be ready with your extra curricular ( yeh ! I’m talking of those skills we used to practise back in our school days ). Surajitda is planning to put you on the stage !
